326410 2005-02-19 18:04:00 because of the size of my monitor those settings are actually way too big. i have experianced major problems with the recovery partition. everytime i use it the performance degrades more but if i don't use it i have a computer i can't do anything with. digitalfatality (7371)
326411 2005-02-19 18:08:00 believe me i thought about it, but the problem is this computer was premanufactured already so there is no software or any other utilities that goes with the hard drive so i could reformat it and i don't have have the windows xp software either ( it didn't come with none of that) digitalfatality (7371)

326413 2005-02-19 21:29:00 I see you have Norton’s Anti Virus.

I have seen this programme bring a computer to its knees as it carefully scrutinises every file as it opens and shuts. There are settings for its behaviour but I’m afraid I took the easy way out and completely dumped it in favour of AVG, so I can’t give you step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.

But beware, dumping it can provide you with problems too. :(

Personally, I would run a virus scan and then turn Norton’s off completely and see if that helped. Just remember to turn it back on before you go Interneting. :)

326414 2005-02-20 01:33:00 is it NAV 2003 by chance? now that sure is a system hog if you have that installed, dont worry i had the same problem. i uninstalled it and installed AVG and that increased the speed of my system by a fair bit. Prescott (11)
326415 2005-02-24 04:29:00 no, i have norton 2005, but i did go for the format. i found a copy of xp, but the format was not completly successful because i needed a certain code to format one of the partitions but since i didn't know it i couldn't format it. it does run better now and all of my programs are running properly now. lets just see how long this lasts. thanks for your help. yall were really helpful. digitalfatality (7371)
