326882 2005-02-20 22:05:00 Alright; I've been through the archives of this forum, and the support website for CANON products and this has given absolutely no results.

As the title says, my canner is a CanoScan N340P.

I can install the stuff correctly; the Toolbox and the TWAIN Drivers. However, when I try to click on save, scan, copy or any other things which would actually START the scanner, I get:

No scanners detected
Verify that your N340P/N640P scanner is connected correctly
0x000708000

Then, I get:

Unable to open TWAIN source.
Please check connection
then restart toolbox.

My settings are set as follow:

EPP parallel port set to I/O Address 278 and Interrupt 5 (enabled, not auto).

I operate under Windows XP (Service Pack 2). My scanner IS connected to the computer correctly and even plugged.

How would I go about fixing this?

(Also, correction; my settings are set to EPP (auto), so everything else (I/O address and interrupt) isn't displayed.)

Using a good quality parallel cable (IEEE1284 Compliant)?
Fast processor clock speeds can give problems on poor quality parallel cables.

326885 2005-02-21 06:42:00 Those drivers exactly, yes. Still no result.

The cable is the one I got with the scanner; it used to work on my old machine, and now it just won't work on this machine. Yet the printer works just fine. And, no, they're not plugged together or anything, completely different components. Heck, the scanner doesn't even appear in the list of components connected to the computer.

326887 2005-02-21 08:54:00 Try going into your BIOS and changing the parallel port settings to bidirectional or ECP/EPP.
Sometimes can be the cause of the PC not finding the Scanner

326888 2005-02-21 10:52:00 Try going into Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> and click on Ports -> Parallel Port.

Make sure "Enable Legacy Plug and Play Detection" is enabled. I found that with this unchecked, a parallel port zip drive wouldn't work in XP.
