2005-02-19 23:59:00 | I use jetstream and the 302g modem and on weekends and some other times I get drop outs. Every 5 mins my internet just disconnects then it reconnects after a minute when it finds a adsl connection again. Would this be line problems? Paying quite a bit of money for jetstream and dont expect it to drop out in the weekend just because more people are using it. | Woodz (7310) | |
2005-02-20 02:10:00 | I know someone who also faces this problem and I was thinking it was a filter problem. Have you tried hooking yoru ADSL modem through another filter? | Buggie (7149) | |
2005-02-20 03:52:00 | There have been numerous problems in the network lately, yesterday the entire 03 prefix area was affected with periodic dropouts as you describe. This was acknowledged on the ISP status page.

2005-02-20 09:43:00 | [QUOTE= Have you tried hooking yoru ADSL modem through another filter?[/QUOTE] ADSL Modems connect straight into the wall socket and not the Filter, If it is connected to the filter it should be connected to a filter with 2 sockets, One will be marked PHONE and the other ADSL, Your Modem should be connected to the socket marked ADSL which is not filtered it just allows you to connect a phone and modem into the same line socket kind of like a double adaptor , Fitting to a different filter would not help at all, The filters should be used to connect anything that is not your modem I.e Phones, Alarms, Sky. I would check to see if these things are all filtrered, If you have a monitored alrm system then you may need to get a filter installed into the main phone line (Call Telecom). Also get your ISP to do a check on your line to see how strong the ADSL signal is to you house, It may be weak and causing you to disconnect, this could very well be the problem. GODFATHER is right, There has been a few problems with all connections in the 03 areas, this may have caused the problem over the past couple of days Hope i have been helpful If this isnt the problem then please repost and i will look further for you. ADSL Modems connect straight into the wall socket and not the Filter I was of the understanding an ADSL modem needs a filter & a router connects straight to the wall outlet. Kick me if I'm wrong though.

Neither of these need a filter, and in fact they will not work if they are fed "through" a filter. The filter is required to isolate the telephone devices to prevent interference to them by the ADSL signal and absorption by them of the ADSL signal. In effect an ADSL router or modem must connect to an unfiltered line. Where a filter has 2 outlets, one for ADSL and one for telephone, the ADSL outlet is actually unfiltered. |
