| 327377 | 2005-02-22 07:13:00 | Just got this RTA 770 4 port router but could not get it connected to the Internet. No problem in entering the web configuring page (192.168.1.1) with 'admin' as the username and password. Computer's tcp/ip settings are: 192.168.1.10 subnet : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 Preferred DNS : 202.27.184.3 Alternate DNS : 202.27.184.5 Also have tried using the obtain ip address automatically with the same results. Keyed in the username: xxx.xadsl@xtra.co.nz and the xxxxx password; clicked 'connect' when it says 'ready to connect' but was not successfull. Have tried many attempts with the same result. All computer settings seems to be in order, or else won't be able to enter the configuring page, right? Also, able to ping the router without problem. Rang the 0800 number for technical support and as usual, left message and still waiting for their reply. Just bought this router from BP Tech this morning, do you think that I should request for a replacement? Cheers |

| 327378 | 2005-02-22 08:16:00 | Have you got the modem showing a DSL signal? Is it correctly setup with no filter in the line? Did Telecom confirm you have been enabled at the exchange for ADSL? I am presuming this is the first time you are connecting up to ADSL? |

| 327379 | 2005-02-22 08:22:00 | W ell it all looks ok, except that there's no info on whether the line is up or not, line errors, etc as Jen has mentioned . Who's help line did you call, Xtra's or Dynalink? I guess Xtra to make sure everythings ok at their end . I've found Dynalink to be very helpfull in the past, even when it turns out to be someone elses problem :thumbs: |

I tested it at mine connection - (I'm using a Nokia router and it is working perfectly . ) If my nokia router is working OK, then the line, adsl, etc . must be OK . Do I have a valid reason to request for a replacement? |

| 327382 | 2005-02-22 08:53:00 | Well if the Dynalink is showing a DSL signal on the front panel and you know your line is fine, then you might have a faulty modem . Take it back and see if they can get it to work on their ADSL connection (if they have one) . Have you tried pinging the outside world rather than just the router? |

When I hook it to my line (known to be good - 'cause it works OK with my nokia router), the DSL light is on but couldn't get it connected, even with my own username and password. Initially I suspected it's the line at my friend's place (phoned Xtra's helpdesk and confirmed that the line is OK) that's why I took it back to my place to test. |

| 327386 | 2005-02-22 09:44:00 | Have you tried a reset. There should be a reset button on the back panel. Big enough fo a ball point pen to push and hold normally for 5 - 10sec and this will reset it back to factory defualt settings. Re-enter your info and try again. | berryb (99) | ||
