we are changing from jetstart (with orcon) to bitstream (also with orcon) we have been advised by orcon that telecom has estimated our install date as 21 February 2005,

soooo my questions are
how do we know when we have been switched over

Will our usename change, currently something @ jet dot net dot nz

327268 2005-02-21 22:10:00 It will end up being something @ orcon.net.nz You will know when you've been switched over as your jetstart will stop working. Well that is how I noticed. Jeremy (1197)

the estimated install date was supposed to be the 21st Feb but we have heard nothing,
our billing date (telecom) was two days ago, and yet we are still able to surf the net
how long do these switchovers take, I know they took ages to start with but how long do they they take now


Although I have to say the net has been phenomally sluggish today

we're at dial up speed :dogeye:

have to ring orcon tomorrow, we e-mailed them a few days ago but apparently there is a 96 hour delay dealing with e-mails

is this normal?

327273 2005-02-27 06:44:00 As far as normal goes, pretty normal for Orcon, in fact I'm still waiting for my bill to be sent out, but they missed this month, so I guess I'm paying double next month :sigh:

Never was notified, only found out about the change after resetting my router and not being able to use my other ISP's login, cancelled the other ISP, was annoyed with Orcon's low speeds, annoyed with normal jetstream realm speeds as I can't get fullrate due to the line limited to only 360Kbps, which is another annoyance as I also have a fullrate jetstream account I use, but can't due to this . Still speaking to Telecom and Orcon about the issue but nothing is being done about it .

The RAN servers have been going down quite a lot lately . Shows how reliable NEW equipment can be .

I was better off on 128K with the ability to switch to my fullrate account whenever I wanted to, now my router shows how limited my lines are, so it wasn't worth changing to, if the technician rang me up and told me that my line was upgraded I may have been able to get my jetstream account working how it should have .

I Rather pay $10 more on 128K than save $10 and get less in the way of service .
