327128 2005-02-28 06:36:00 Yup

Make a post on the Yoper.com forums asking for the URL for the latest kernel source

Download that and do it that way :)

327129 2005-02-28 07:18:00 done, and im waiting for a reply Prescott (11)
327130 2005-03-01 04:09:00 ok i got a reply and they gave me this link http://www.kernel.org/ which is totaly not handy but its a start, now where are those sources....... Prescott (11)
327131 2005-03-01 05:08:00 Well I just went and read what you had posted on the Yoper forum, and I think you needed to be a bit more specific with your request. Simply asking where you can download the lastest kernel source will tend to get you a url to www.kernel.org

Tell them what your current kernel is on Yoper, which you can find out by using this command:

uname -r

Then ask if there is a RPM of the matching kernel source (or kernel headers) as you need to compile a driver which requires this. You have to have the source/headers for the kernel version you are currently running, which will not be the same as the "latest" kernel available. :)

327133 2005-03-03 06:31:00 ok i got the link (ftp://apt.yoper.com/yoper/version2/RPMS.os/kernel-source-2.6.8.1-7.i686.rpm) and im downloading it as we speak, i didnt expect it to be this big in size, its 83mb, oh well it should be done by the morning.

what do i do once i have finshed downloading it?
Prescott (11)
327134 2005-03-03 07:47:00 Once it is downloaded, open up a root console window in the directory you saved it.

Then issue this command:
rpm -Uvh kern[hit tab here to autocomplete the file name]

That should be it.
