| 327163 | 2005-04-07 05:01:00 | The standard charge is the average of the cost, many places could take many hours (concrete walls, two storey with no access to cavities etc). I did my own, as it was "non typical". That only adds to the high cost of the "standard" installs, they generally only see the more difficult ones in all probability. I used a single adapted Nokia filter ($17.50 +GST) for the entire house, works very well. Why would you pay $70...? |

Exactly, and why should I pay $200, according to you to pay for someone elses more difficult installation, which i dont really think is the case anyway . I cant believe that there are people making excuses for a company that has extracted so much money out of residential customers over the years . . they really should be installing these for nothing . or are you just being contrary on purpose? |

| 327166 | 2005-04-07 05:32:00 | sure ok but i'm a bit of a pedant about using 'approved' products, and just a side note about cost . . the true cost of the product is $22 just happens that telecom has it in for DIY pedant guy and wont make their approved products available through the usual cheaper channels . . yeah and ive seen phone and cabling companies install cheaper filters in buildings also - for around $80 including labour which is probably a lot closer to the real cost of the installation . . usually (but maybe not in your case) there is a master jackpoint in a fairly convenient location in the building . |
