Have you switched to a new plan? Regardless the speed it shows you connecting at is generally worth nothing... Before Bitstream (the new 256k plans) came in, you would have 5.8mbps to the exchange but your speed would be throttled later in the network... This is now not the case with Bitstream. |

If it stays as low as that at different times over a period of days, it suggests that it's more than just traffic congestion, and would need a talk with your ISP . When I was on full speed my average speed was around 3 . 5mb/s, but frequently as low as 250kb/s |

| 326980 | 2005-02-22 00:04:00 | I noticed this too ! Annoyed me as well, so I upgraded. It seems that the changes they made to the plans recently, in particular the Jetstream Explorer 256 kbps (3GB cap) the 320kbps was applied to. I recently upgraded a 2M plan and now connect at 4-5Mbps again. |

| 326981 | 2005-02-22 02:01:00 | My jetstream is so slow we dont even notice the change, when xtra cut it back to dialup speed when we go over 1g limit. We are generaly over the 1g limit in 10 days. Rest of month at dialup speed Telecom are scum they say may cut back to dialup when you exceed limit there is now no may, they cut it back. Jetstream here is so slow the kids and my wife hardly notice when they chop it back. Conversly at start of new month there is only a very small increase noticed. tedheath |

| 326982 | 2005-02-22 02:08:00 | Ted ... It may be worth upgrading to the 3GB account if you use 1G in 10 days you will use 3G in 30 days. It is extra $5-10 a month depending on which plan you are on. jetstream.xtra.co.nz |

Conversly at start of new month there is only a very small increase noticed.Have you called Xtra about this? I had dialup speeds on my 2 Mb/s connection not long ago, but for some strange reason it reverted back to full speed between midnight and 8-9 am'ish. After a fair bit of persistance on my part with my ISP, Telecom sent a technician to the exchange where a fault was found and corrected. Immediately returned to full speed after that. Do some download speed tests when you know you haven't been capped due to going over your limit. www.jetstreamgames.co.nz www.nzadsl.co.nz |
