| 327689 | 2005-02-23 21:47:00 | I have a HP igo laptop . Basically the CD/DVD player has been faulty since purchase but only got really bad last year when it did'nt read properly . I made the master CDs of windows Xp home edition . I Wiped the hard drive as I have been getting lots of prob's with windows . Tried to boot from CD and it did'nt work . Got in touch with PC world and they replaced the Rom drive . Got it back a few weeks ago and the same thing . To make things worse the CDs are corrupt . So now I have no working CD rom and no system cd's? What do I do? I have a cover plan so I am covered . Will they be able to put XP back on? The product code is on the bottom? Any advice? The error when I try to boot from the CD's is code 1? Also the disks don't work on other PC's . I feel really upset . Please help me . Many Thanks Tom |

When you said you made a master copy of Windows, is this the recovery disks that you are prompted to make when you first got your computer? If your writer was faulty then, that could explain why your disks are corrupt. Bascially, use your coverplan and let them sort it out for you as this saves you having to worry over it. :) Your other thread on the same topic (forums.pcworld.co.nz) |
