2005-02-23 20:55:00 | since i updated to new FF a couple of weeks ago maybe??? i have been inundated by Popups, that i havent seen for so long since using FF. cannot find a setting, does the new FF not do this anymore? i stick to the same pages mostly unless looking for study info, no dodgy pages and my filtering for language is high...(LOL) so whats changed ? how are they getting thro? OS XP Firefox 1.0? and newly installed Eudora, is the only changes i have done lately. any ideas, help or clues for me? not sure what site they are originating from, because the ad's in them are block by adblock or flash block, just not the empty box????? irritating. oh and have lost ability to click on smiley and add smiley recently too? this connected? otherwise all working well.

2005-02-23 21:03:00 | Have you tried ticking "Block popup windows" under Tools/ Options/Web Features?. Because you've updated you may have to do it again? Other than that, no idea sorry. Lazydog

2005-02-23 21:03:00 | Check that you still have Firefox set to block popup windows (Tools > Options > Web Features > "Block popup windows" You need javascript turned on to allow the add smilie feature to work. Good luck :)

2005-02-23 21:18:00 | Hi Beetle, Several browsers are having the same problem, it's not you :-) As far as I understand they are a new type of pop ups / pop unders. Apple have just issued an update as Safari was affected too.

Thought i was just getting more loopy than usual :D This does not explain why my smileys no longer work??????????????????????? from just mouse click and its on the page, instead of letter correctness . . . . . typing it in i mean . . . . . . whats changed? :( |

2005-02-24 00:47:00 | Sue: Not quite.... Beetle: Dont worry, there were code changes just after 0.93 IIRC that allowed 'click-thru popups' to appear. so that when you click out and to a new page, some popups are allowed through then. Im not sure why this was changed but I too noticed it. Apparently its for things like Webmessenger so they can load things in a new window. St00pid programmers - But admittedly it _is_ open-source. You dont like it, then change it yourself ;-) Regards Chill.
