327456 2005-02-22 21:42:00 I have tried to delete a folder containing 6 files from my flashdrive but I keep getting a message - "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disc". When you open the files they have hyrogliphic's instead of their propper file names and you cannot open the files. Also, you cannot delete these files one at a time. I have other files on the falsh drive and they are sweet and open ok. How do I force the system to delete this particular folder and the stuffed files? Please use simple language as I'm a little computer illiterate. Cheers... :badpc: Aporosa (5671)
327457 2005-02-22 22:10:00 It sounds like the files are corrupted, hence you cannot access or delete them.

Check on the website of the flash drive maker for a reformat utility, and reformat the drive. That should fix it.

327458 2005-02-22 22:11:00 Hi Aporosa

You may find this folder is part of the encryption/security that your flashdrive offers. They have probably been protected so that they cannot be deleted or are not overwritten when you format the drive. Did the documentation that came with your flashdrive says that if offers encryption?

327459 2005-02-22 22:11:00 Try deleting them from a command prompt or take off any files you want to keep and format the flash drive. CYaBro (73)
327460 2005-02-23 01:06:00 I think it is possible if you right click the drive in my computer and look in properties. I think iv done it before but i am not 100% sure. Cstchie (7385)
327461 2005-02-23 07:38:00 Thanks all, I removed the material I wanted to keep, then right clicked on the flashdrive in the explorer window and clicked on Format. Only took about 2 seconds to format and all fixed. Returned my data I wanted to keep and I'm a happy boy!! Thanks again for your help, you guys rock! Aporosa (kai Viti) :D Aporosa (5671)
