328031 2005-02-25 06:00:00 I have the IP 4000 R wireless from my two computers. Love it and am looking forward to printing some photos from my hugh range of slides and negatives as soon as I can find a film scanner at a reasonable price. :D theother1 (3573)

Check pricespy.co.nz for the best prices. I paid $80 below retail for mine.

328033 2005-02-25 06:28:00 Have Pixma iP2000 - brilliant for photo printing.

Have kept old HP 710C and use it for everday printing - great text printing photo printing not too good as only 600 dpi

Cheers Lucy :)

328034 2005-02-25 08:29:00 Like Lucy, I can highly recommend the Canon printers. I have two. They are excellent for quality photo prints. And the Canon EasyPhotoPrint software that comes with them is amazing.

It enables you to select the image. Select the type of paper. Select print size, from very many options, like A4. 6x4, 5x7, one or many more per page, either bordered, or borderless, and then being able to "trim" or crop the image for the print. Recently Canon have included the EasyPhotoPrint Plus software, that does marvellous things like Red eye reduction, Face smoothing, etc

Highly recommended, but be sure to use good quality photo paper. The Canon Pro Glossy is good. And the HP Photo glossy is good. As is the Ilford Printasia silk, and glossy. The Kodak papers have not been so good.

328035 2005-02-25 09:52:00 Thanks for your replies. Can you adjust the amount of ink to go on the page in setup with the Canon Printers? I can in the HP one,but not in this Brother. Neil McC (178)
328036 2005-02-26 03:08:00 I'm guessing what you mean by "adjust the amount of ink" is the print quality. Pixma can print in either high, standard, draft or custom modes which would "adjust the amount of ink" used. You can also select greyscale only printing.

Draft mode printing is fine for text only printing.

Like Bazza said the easy photo-print program that comes with the printer makes printing photos quick and easy. It has true edge to edge printing.

Cheers Lucy

328037 2005-02-26 09:17:00 Thanks LucyL.yes,it does adjust the amount of ink in the HP setup. The only problem with buying printers/scanners is you can't test before buying.Any comments on the Canon range, godfather? Neil McC (178)
