327924 2005-02-24 18:42:00 I've posted this maybe 3 times now, and no one knows?????? CMON SOMEONE HAS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS, It happened to my friend too..

When I hit Ctrl+alt+del the task manager pops up, and then it just goes away, and leaves the little icon in the bottom right, and if I mouse over the icon, it disapears. It's really annoying if I have to keep going to my desktop and going to procexp.exe to see my processes.. Can SOMEONE attatch the file for the task manager and where it goes, or link me to a fix, or something..

Thank You.

327925 2005-02-24 18:59:00 Have a look at the first page to check if you have a virus .
the second page is a alternative manager.

327927 2005-02-24 19:19:00 None of that worked.. still very much here.

I got a worm from trying to download hijack this, and then I found it from another link, and it just opened like dos for a sec then closed. Like my Task manager

327928 2005-02-24 19:27:00 Hi Slacker

Rather than making multiple posts all on the same problem, it would be nice if you replied back in the ones where advice was given stating that none of that worked and you still require help. When someone doesn't come back after advice (or further advice) is given in a thread, then we can only assume that their problem was resolved. :)

Just so everyone know what previous advice was given and obviously did not help, here are the previous threads:

It sounds like it's a virus, and if so its possible its taken hold of your virus checker also.

give symantec's online virus checker (http://securityresponse.symantec.com) a whirl (click on "check for security risks")

You have got a rather tricky worm/virus causing these problems but cure is a bit awkward as it could be one of several. Go to the forum's Spyware FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz 16) and run through all the instructions to clean your computer then see if the online trojan scanner detects and cleans anything.

When you try to run HijackThis, you could try being very quick to click the "Scan and save a log" button to get a log file. You might have to try quite a few times (it took me over 10 attempts once) but if you can get a log it would be very helpful.

327931 2005-02-24 20:49:00 frankly the best way to deal with this is to TAKE IT TO A PC REPAIR SHOP !

sorry slacker but you simply havn't grasped the idea that your infected, you obouisly don't have the usuall sicuirty precautions hence why you have been infected.

there is a few virus's and malware which shutdown anything accessing it eg taskmanger, antivirus, hijack this, adaware etc.

an online scanner should pick it it up however i suspect it will be a very short time before your reinfected with something.
