| 328662 | 2005-02-27 05:35:00 | Hey guys. yesterday i bought a new system: Gigabyte K8NS Mobo AMD 3000+ 64bit Legend 6600GT 512MB DDR400 BenQ DVD-RW/CD-W Dual Layer i boot with the WinXP cd in and setup my partitions, it copies over the files fine, then reboots again as it should to start the installation of WinXp.....but 5 seconds in to the install a Box comes up saying "Fatal Error". "parameter incorrect : H:/........(windows files) parameter does not exist". i choose to have 5 partitions set up on a 120G seagate drive, C, D, E, F, G and H being the DVD drive. it sounds like it doesnt like the setup on my DVD. i set it to cable select. and the DVD and HDD run on seperate IDE cables. HDD set to master in IDE 0 and DVD in IDE 1. HDD is set as Primary Master. i have tried installing with just one big C: and windows using the DVD drive as D:, but that still doesnt work..... my next step maybe to move the DVD closer to the HDD so i can run both on one one IDE and have master and slave. any ideas. Cheers. |

| 328664 | 2005-02-27 05:58:00 | yea. the WinXP does have a couple of scratches on it, but if that were the case why would it cry about the parameters, if it couldnt read the CD wouldnt it just say "error, cannot read CD" ? Yea, i started off with the DVD as Master. Stil didnt work. Cheers |

| 328666 | 2005-02-27 06:32:00 | using NTFS. yea decided not to go with the HDD and DVD on one cable. using another CD drive and the instal is going fine now. my DVD drive must be bogus. i will re-install my DVD driver once XP has finished installing. See what happens |
