328611 2005-02-27 02:29:00 My secong pc hard drive died. I have replaced and started to reload win 2000 pro. The product key on the side of the box is missing 5 digits making it impossible to reload. PC us Dell Optiplex GX 150 bought in America. Am I able to recover the code or is it shell out for a new OS. :confused: Tully4 (7446)

328615 2005-02-27 04:29:00 When you say that you are "missing 5 digits" can we assume part of the sticker is missing?

No program can "recover" the key on a new hard drive, as you say it is not installed so is simply non-existant at this stage.

It does not exist on the CD either.

However I am sure a phone call to MS would recover the situation, given you have "most of" the key.
