| 329358 | 2005-03-01 11:10:00 | Can you please help me with a problem with Gmail Notifier which I downloaded directly from the gmail web page. I use Firefox 1.0.1 as my default Browser. When I first downloaded and installed Gmail Notifier it worked perfectly. After approx a week the gmail notifier suddenly stopped working the Icon in the system tray, which used to be dark blue when I was logged on, is now greyed out with a dark blue Explanation mark in front of it and when I hover the curser over the icon I get a message box which reads 'Temporarily logged out' Nothing that I do enables me to log in and naturally it does not notify me when I have new mail. Double clicking the icon sometimes directs me to my Google email inbox and sometimes I get a 'Page not available 'response with an otherwise blank page. I have tried to uninstall and then reinstall the Notifier with no improvement. What I cannot understand is that for about a week or so it worked perfectly. Do you have any suggestions? |

Iv also read that sometimes this problem just fixes itself after sometime. So if the first way doesnt do it just leave it there for a week or so and try to log in. Good Luck |

| 329361 | 2005-03-02 06:02:00 | Cstchie: Thanks for your suggestion. It Didn't work initially, but as I have seen from numerous posts on the Gmail forum, the bug which many people have reported often "fixes itself" especially after a password change. I tried this yesterday with no effect but today out of the blue it suddenly started working again perfectly. Reminds me of Asimov's "Ghost in the machine". Johnboy: Thanks for your link. Apparently I'm not alone with this problem. The Notifier started working again today after a password change. |
