329255 2005-03-01 04:22:00 I was moving around my drives today, attempting to get my hard drives and cd drives on seperate ides so i can have both hard drives running at full speed. but when i went to turn my computer on it shut off right away, i tried again and it worked but i saw a black screen. when i opened up the case it smelt kinda funny not too bad. after a while of testing hardware everything seemed to be working okay so i started removing things i knew wouldnt cause the problem. as i was removing my cd drives i noticed an extra long burner was over my motherboard. so now im wondering if that caused a short circuit. i know it's not my video card or monitor because i tested them using other hardware. qprime (7467)
329256 2005-03-01 05:52:00 you may have plugged your IDE cable in the wrong way, and caused some short or so, doesn't sound too probable, but there are so many different designs out there.... Agent_24 (57)

As you are the only one that can physically see the position of the CD drive, and what it could possibly have shorted its hard to agree or disagree with it being a possibility.

Just have a close look at what it could have touched?
