| 329850 | 2005-03-02 12:35:00 | I have recently tried to install a second dvd drive on top of my cd-rw drive. I opened the case attached the ribbon cable to both devices and reconnected my computer and switched it on. On doing this not only did the dvd drive not show up in my computer but my cd-rw drive disappeared as well. Please help me, what am I missing?? | romeo (7482) | ||

Did you go into the BIOS, and configure the DVD and CD as Master/slave on the secondary IDE connection entry?? So, the cd and dvd appear here? If the BIOS doesnt know a cd / hdd, or dvd is in the system, Windows wont either. It sounds like you haven't configured the BIOS, so it detects both the cd and dvd, or you havent jumpered the dvd and cd to Master and slave. |
