2005-03-02 09:20:00 | All of those things look alright with me. None of them should be incompatible with anything. Or each other. Nothing wrong with putting different parts into a new system. Altho, not too sure abolut foxconn ps's. They maybe a bit dodgy / might not be reliable enough to use as a power supply. I would get XP or 2K or higher, for the SATA tho...If you're going to install Windows.

2005-03-02 09:29:00 | The hardware peeps seem to be on sabatical, I'll keep you company in the meantime. What are you using for video? Everything else looks like it fits together ok although I haven't heard of the case or PSU, the latter is IMO very important to go quality. Also, although Foxcon are a big manufacturer of boards I believe their own brand is more in the bufget range (anyone care to correct that?) so, what are you wanting to use the computer for and whats your approximate budget, if you don't mind? If it's limited it may be better to go AMD and use the savings on a decent PSU and RAM.

2005-03-02 09:35:00 | The video is onboard due to price constraints as well as the audio. The updated component list is what the my friend wants well at least the procesor and motherboard. Ittl be used for low end games and LOTS of music. Id like to spend less than 700.

2005-03-02 09:39:00 | I doubt you'll get all that for < 700. Especially with the 775 pin mobos and the CPU. These 2 alone would take up most of the $700. Well might be a bit cheaper with a Celeron. BUT its a waste of a CPU on a 775 pin mobo.

2005-03-02 09:43:00 | And where are you?? in NZ? or somewhere else? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2005-03-02 09:47:00 | Don't think S666 is talking NZ dollars Speedy. The board looks ok, MSI have a reasonable name. Plextor is a nice burner. You won't be playing too many modern games with onboard video, even an onboard nForce chipset will struggle with todays average game (for AMD CPU's only at the mo, although the Intel processor version will be out shortly, at a price). But at least you have the option of getting a card later.
