330110 2005-03-03 04:48:00 Assistance please.

On the second computer of three on home network(XP sp2 installed) all is working well via the internet but for gmail. When I put in username and password on the gmail page, and then login, the page seems to go into a recycle mode and never complete the loading of the gmail site page. A reboot of the computer gives one entry before the problem re-occurs.

I have used both Firefox and IE to test this and the above is what happens in both browsers.

I have checked ZoneAlarm pro settings, Avast anti-virus, network settings and admit to being stumped.

Any assistance would be much appreciated

330111 2005-03-03 05:31:00 Last I heard, Gmail was in Beta ;)

Tried installing a proxy on the gateway and using that?

330112 2005-03-03 05:35:00 yes Gmail is in beta.

Is your idea referring to the gateway LAN (I am on broadband ) ? What effect might that have on other puters? not very up on that area.
Thanks for suggestion

330113 2005-03-03 06:44:00 have you cleared the cache? and the cookies relating to gmail? Prescott (11)
330114 2005-03-03 08:02:00 Hi Guys

Tried above suggestions.
Finally tested other running programs - I think an upgrade to Avast which downloaded 3-4 days ago was the culprit - just what, I don't know but all ran well when avast was disabled. So I have uninstalled avast and gone back to old favourite, AVG!

And all continues well.

Thank you for ideas.
