| 330548 | 2005-03-04 08:33:00 | I have several movies (avi's) downloaded and watch them often. but there are a couple of AVI's that i want to watch and cant. when i try to play them i get an error message with some players , and others just play sound, no video , and the sound is in very s-l-o-w motion. i have windows Xp Home edition , and i have tryed these players..... Winamp.....Media Player Classic.....Nero ShowTime....Nero Media Player.....IfranView......BsPlayer......Roxio Audiocentral Player....and Windows Media Player 10 All of the ones listed above just play sound in slow motion and shows the lentgh of the movie as being like...49 hours long , instead of 2 hours long. When i try to play these movies with IfranView , i get this error message...... "Windows error text : The specified file cannot be played on the specified MCI device" "The file may be corrupt,Not in the right format , or no file handler avaliable for this format" Most Avi's i play work just fine , but these 2 are driving me crazy , and i have re-downloaded these 2 certain files like 15 times each from different places and people. What can i do? :( |

| 330553 | 2005-04-03 19:16:00 | Try this support.microsoft.com Altho it may not be the right one. Since this site is for 98. Thanks, but unf. this is not able to fix any problems happening on the NT OS line (anything above 98, I believe). Windows doesn't allow the installation of the fix. |

You could try downloading GSpot to identify the codecs used in the .avi file - it will also tell you if you have the correct ones installed on your PC. www.headbands.com If it identifies any codecs that are missing, you can Google for them or try downloading one of the many codec packs around. http://www.free-codecs.com/ has some codec packs - but i'm not sure how safe the site is for IE users. |
