330361 2005-03-04 01:24:00 know a good freeware to remove spyware? zimmy (7136)
330362 2005-03-04 01:30:00 Spybot search and destroy found here (www.safer-networking.org) Overdrive_5000 (4950)
330363 2005-03-04 01:35:00 And here (www.microsoft.com)

It's a good idea to use more than one.

330364 2005-03-04 01:35:00 It is often a good idea to run more than one antispyware program, as each has its strenghts and weaknesses. Spybot Search & Destroy as mentioned is good, as well as Ad-aware SE (www.lavasoftusa.com). Or you may even wish to try out Microsofts new Antispyware Program - Beta (www.microsoft.com) that is available. Jen (38)
330365 2005-03-04 01:37:00 MS anti-spyware completly removed/deleted my install of flashget that i had paid for.

Not a happy chappy.

And aside from that didn't find another single entry.

330366 2005-03-04 01:42:00 And then there is Spyware Blaster to prevent it (spyware) from being installed in the first place that can be found here (www.javacoolsoftware.com) Overdrive_5000 (4950)
330367 2005-03-04 01:45:00 personally i wouldn't trust a BETA ver of any MS products.

adaware and spybot have been around for quite some time. just be aware you shouldn't RUN 2 spyware progs at the same time alltho its usually ok to have more than 1 installed.

there is also a few standalone tools for some particula spyware eg CWshredder.
also some generic tools such as hijackthis and of course plain old antivirus are handy.

Sorry, but you just have to laugh sometimes. Been running it since it was released and that's the first odd-ball effect I've heard of. Perhaps we should have a whip-round?

330369 2005-03-04 01:52:00 FlashGet the free edition uses CyDoor and other adware to make it free. It's probably still incorporated in the paid install.

330370 2005-03-04 01:55:00 with any anti-adware/spyware program is what do you call spyware?

no doubt MS have taken the same line as some of the other progs (eg adaware in this case) and removed whole programs because they display ads.
adaware did the same to DAP. they included dap in adaware then after a lot of complaints from dap uses took dap out of adaware. not sure what the current status is and i'm not sure if anyone has proven exactly what the spyware in DAP is (it certainly wasn't a major infection).
