330426 2005-03-04 05:55:00 Where can I find a list of Australian ISPs? We're thinking about moving to Oz and so I want to check out available options for when I get there... Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Midavalo.

330429 2005-03-04 06:08:00 There's Telstra, Bigpond, Optus Iinet, Ozemail, Netspace, Westnet

So I've been told. Most of them cover most of Oz.

Any recommendations for a good Australian ISP?

Whirlpool . net . au is a large discussion forum that has a large board dedicated to ISPs .

It is very competitive here between Telstra, Optus, Primus and resellers, which is very good for the consumer . Telstra does not seem to have the power that Telecom has over telecommunications in New Zealand .

There are also wireless-only ISPs sprouting up in the metropolitan areas . All installations seem to be free for 12 - 24 month contracts the last time I looked . All ISPs I know of cover the whole country bar the obvious remote areas .

330433 2005-03-04 08:48:00 i see that ihug is there, they are not too bad in NZ so im guessing they should be alright over there, maybe you could find a aussie forum and ask there? Prescott (11)
330434 2005-03-04 08:48:00 double post  Prescott (11)
330435 2005-03-04 10:12:00 iinet have unbundled access to Telstra's network and have released the new iibroadband2 plans (on their own dslams) . The speed ranges from 1 . 5 to 8Mbps depending on network usage . I don't think many other ISPs compete with this at the moment . iinet plans ( . iinet . com . au/broadband/" target="_blank">www . iinet . com . au) .

If you use these guys don't ring them between 6am to 11am NZ time otherwise you will be put through to ihug New Zealands helpdesk .
