2005-03-05 23:25:00 | Hey, i am having major probs with my computer, it will run for about 1/2 an hour, and then it gets really slow, and wont save files on network shares. I have had a look in my eventlog and found that ACPI has a red X by it, and that MRxSmb has a yellow triangle. I had a look at the link that the event view gives you, and it says look for a bios update.....but i have no idea what model my computer is, all i no is that its a compaq. Can anyone help me here becuase its really anoying rebooting every 1/2 hour. I use WinXP sp2 btw Thanks Daniel

2005-03-05 23:29:00 | Have a look at the back of the case (is this a compaq desktop)? It might have the model # on a sticker. Or are there any stickers on the front?? With a model # on it?? Or, highlight My Computer on the desktop / right mouse / properties. Does it give u a model # under the General tab??

2005-03-05 23:48:00 | Had a look on the back, nothing, theres nothing on the front, all it says is Compaq Deskpro, and in my computer it just says Intell Pentium 3 497mhz, 192mb Ram I have installed XP myself, so it doesnt have any of the compaq stuff on it. Daniel

2005-03-06 00:01:00 | I would go to http://www.hp.com And type in Compaq Deskpro under search. You may have to go thru the entries that come up until you find out which one looks like yours. Before you get a BIOS update.

2005-03-06 04:58:00 | lol . Well it doesnt help if u have 9 models to choose from with that name . Umm, that link for the BIOS, I wouldnt go there . U shouldnt have to ring anyone for a BIOS update! Are u in NZ or somewhere else?? If in NZ I would either ring them, or go to http://www . hp and send an email . And find out out how to find out which PC number yours is . Your PC MUST have a PC # as shown on here . hp . com/cgi-bin/cposupport/ccsearch/search-product?pname=Compaq+Deskpro+EP%2FSB+Series&pid=&opname=&lname=Compaq+Deskpro+EP%2FSB+Series&contextual_lname=Compaq+Deskpro+EP%2FSB+Series&pname_desc=&ptype=&stype=&spname=&temp_hql=&plc=&lang=en&ctry=us&qry=bios+update&Submit . x=0&Submit . y=0" target="_blank">www . hp . com
