| 1380344 | 2014-07-30 08:01:00 | I am shutting down a website (old install of Joomla) and saw that the error log is 36.96GB. Out of curiosity what would cause it to be so massive? That is a lot of text... Obviously opening it to uncover the cause is out of the question. |

| 1380345 | 2014-07-30 08:45:00 | You could use head & tail & grep to give it a cursory examination or split or dd or such to chop it into more manageable bits if you're really interested in the content - it's just text so consequently easy to deal with using basic tools. My guess would be extended password brute-force attempts. (edit: fail2ban is your friend :) ) Any reason to believe that server was compromised? Excessive bandwidth usage? etc. |
