1380321 2014-07-29 08:15:00 Hi All,

I am using MS Outlook for my emails. At the bottom bar, RH side is a Yellow Icon for emails. Is it possible to make this do something, flash perhaps, when a new email arrives? I had a look in tools & options but nothing leapt out at me. Thanks. PJ

1380322 2014-07-29 08:18:00 You'll have to install some kind of email notifier program to do that. There are a few free ones around Speedy Gonzales (78)

Depending on the Version of Outlook ( you didn't mention which) you can alter within Outlook.

OR

Open the control panel - Sound - Sounds Tab - Scroll down to "New Mail Notification" Set it to any of the inbuilt or if you want your own sound, download a sound in .wav and save it someplace, browse to the sound wave, select it.

Different OS's / versions of Outlook have different options. office.microsoft.com

1380325 2014-07-29 09:13:00 Wt...Unfortunately I always have the sound off. I am quite deaf. I am looking for a visual indicator, such as a flashing Icon. MS Outlook is 2007. PJ Poppa John (284)
1380326 2014-07-29 10:21:00 Ok didn't know that. What you can do is create a rule so when any new mail comes in a message will pop up , just had a play with www.howto-outlook.com worked quite well, with the exception of needed the reg key to be altered as the alert only displayed for about 5 seconds.

Personally I just use mailwasher, you can close the email program and leave MW open, its checks email by default every 10 minutes or you can manually check/ alter the time. Has the added advantage that you can stop and dump all the rubbish before it comes in :)

You can play about with teh rules, just altered the one I made, this message was showing 3 minutes later still.

1380327 2014-07-30 03:03:00 Outlook has a build in notification dialog box, 2007 & 2010 show it for 10 seconds bottom left, can be changed, 2013 has it top left.. SolMiester (139)
