| 1366248 | 2014-01-28 18:12:00 | I was checking Google about Phenylalanine in Coca-Cola zero. Here's a stupid web-site by a "doctor" (PhD in nutrition, not a medical doctor). Her argument is an 1976 encyclopaedia said cancer cannot exist without Phenylalanine. She also sells a "aspartame detox kit" It's like saying in summer high ice-cream sales cause drownings. www.sweetpoison.com skepfeeds.wordpress.com |

| 1366250 | 2014-01-28 22:55:00 | My middle-aged friend developed diabetes, so it got me thinking. Till recently I was drinking regular coke, so hopefully Coca Cola Zero is move in the right direction. I was reading the average American per year consumes over 27Kg of High Fructose Corn Syrup. "Healthy" foods like yogurt and spaghetti are loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup. |

Since cancer cells are normal human cells gone wild with reproduction, it is no wonder that normal cells cannot exist without it either. That's why it is called an essential amino acid. As to being an artificial additive, it is a naturally occurring amino acid present in the proteins we eat. The source of the added phenylalanine may be manufactured but it is a naturally occurring ingredient. Beware the information on the web... |

Last time I read up on it I'm sure the quantities you'd need to consume to put you at risk of all the supposed side effects worked out at gallons of diet coke a day. Up to one or two a day won't kill you, more than that of any soft drink is bad for you regardless of sweetener or sugar. You should drink water most of the time if your health is a concern to you and if you do having the occasional treat is no big deal. The only real issues I discovered IMHO were these; 1. It appears Aspartame triggers the same insulin response as sugar so not a great Idea for diabetics 2. Some research indicates the burst of sweetness triggers a response in your body expecting an inrush of calories and causing you to crave them when it doesn't happen, upshot is you may eat more and gain weight on "diet" soda Personally though I don't give a $h@#, nobody survives life and I'm not going to spend my time worrying about what's in the food & drinks I like. |

| 1366254 | 2014-01-29 00:15:00 | Till recently I was drinking regular coke, so hopefully Coca Cola Zero is move in the right direction. If you want to be healthy, don't drink either of them. "Healthy" foods like yogurt and spaghetti are loaded with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Only if it's not plain, unsweetened yoghurt. As for spaghetti - I don't know, but the problem is most likely from the sauce. |
