2014-01-24 06:24:00 | A sales guy came to our house today, offering electricity at 23.8 cents a KWh (plus $9 a month). A Google search shows complaints about Just Energy in the USA and Canada. The only NZ info I can find is HERE (www.stuff.co.nz). Currently we are with PowerShop. Genesis rang two months ago and said they could beat PowerShop's prices but after a detailed annual analysis the sales guy finally admitted they were more expensive. Does anyone know about Just Energy (www.justenergy.co.nz)?

2014-01-24 07:04:00 | The mrs signed us up in November. Their told her it was going to be cheaper then genesis. I quickly rang them up and cancelled. I like genesis, we use easy pay. Bill is spread out over 12 months with equal fortnightly payments. | plod (107) | |

The power bills like Plod mentioned come out automatically weekly (which is what we wanted instead of fortnightly) and have one of their smart meters . The monthly bill is a LOT lower than our previous provider, in fact the last 2 bills we have been in credit :banana |

2014-01-24 18:29:00 | www.powerswitch.org.nz Compare pricing. Then: check their customer service rating: www.powerswitch.org.nz I have Energy Online - good pricing for me, 20% off for prompt payment and pretty good service. Used to be with Genesis but they were totally ridiculous and refused to budge when we moved here and needed connecting so bye bye Genesis.

2014-01-24 21:31:00 | Over winter, they were about $110 a month, lately they've dropped down to $70ish | the_bogan (9949) | |
2014-01-24 21:38:00 | I'm with Genesis . I did ask about easypay, but their minimum deductions are too high for my usage Not to sure what our plan is called with Genesis, but whjen we joined withthem, they had a look at our past years usage with the other company, ours is reasonably consistent, so they took the yearly amount and worked out their pricing, then decided that by 52 weeks . Thats how much we pay . We are actually paying roughly $150 / Month LESS with Genesis . I called then back and asked if they had that figure right as it seemed to low, they recalculated the amount and said yes . After about 6 months they sent us a letter saying there was a reduction in our weekly amount . :) Then just before Xmas got another reduction .

2014-01-24 22:01:00 | We had a smart meter installed the same day as our heat pump. Our bill dropped a lot even taking into account the different heating. Dodgy meter I suspect. We pay $90 a fortnight I think, we usually drop into credit in the summer months. At one stage we had $500 credit so got that returned to us and their readjusted our payments so that didn't happen again. | plod (107) | |
2014-01-24 22:03:00 | I looked at changing power companies some time ago. The gov't comparison website, whatever its called, said I could save about $600 per yer. I didn't believe it so sent our usage to the company concerned, to find the savings were much lower. I'm not switching for $100 per year. They will soon put up the prices to wipe out that saving. There is no real competition in domestic power market. Thanks Max Bradford!! | wotz (335) | |
