1366718 2014-02-05 08:41:00 There are some useful tweaks here http://winaero.com/ to alter Win 8.1 to suit your taste, like narrow window borders, kill the charms (especially the bottom right hand corner of the desktop), and make the taskbar opaque. Terry Porritt (14)
1366719 2014-02-05 08:42:00 Read the other day ( rumor mill ) that thats exactly what they are doing.

Another option is the "start button / Menu" you will have a choice of either the old style menu or the tiled as W8.1 currently is.

Again only rumors, but if true, some people will be confused as they wont know what they want

:)
Simple really, if it contains a physical keyboard give it tradition windows. If it's main input method is a though screen give it metro.

I think there still needs to be more options than that, like a home office version that allows you to customize the look and feel of your onscreen keyboard and and office one that comes with a selection of actual keyboards.

The bottom line is that they need to maximise the choices available to customer so that they can continue to confuse the s**t out of everyone.

No I don't think that at all, just that Metro is usable on desktop...

Exactly. And for the masochistic people who *really* want gorilla-arm with a desktop touchscreen monitor, they can have Metro too...

1366727 2014-02-05 21:17:00 Oh come on, both you and wainui have praised how good metro is once a bit of user reeducation is done. Not fully. Personally I dont use the MetroApps them selves apart from the outlook.com mail, I use the Metro interface as location to put shortcuts to programs, Theres a HUGE difference between metro apps and tiles that are in fact shortcuts to other programs. ( pin to start option).

I've always said one I really hate is in W8 the name brand manufactures had so much crap on the interface it made it bad, remove all the advertising and trial programs and ones hardly anyone uses and theres not a lot left.

As I mentioned earlier on, I use it like a folder that has shortcuts, but instead of having that folder on the desktop, you press the windows key to get to it. I know several peopel that the only thing they have on the metro interface is the weather, Desktop and Store, maybe 1 or 2 personal programs they use.

Hate having a desktop full of Icons.

In the future can you please say if its the interface or the Actual apps you be referring to.
