1366059 2014-01-26 08:35:00 they don't allow you to express your own technological superiority over them because they at not Windows PCs which have always been considered the bastion of the "IT Tech domain"...?

It's not just Windows that has that advantage though - pretty much any OS that isn't OS X or iOS has that. ;)

1366060 2014-01-26 10:38:00 Quick, go wash your mouth out before R2x1 does it for you. :D :D
Thanks for the clarification Foxy but no mouth washing needed here. I was just curious to understand why the requirement to "force" someone's spouse to swap from using one computing platform to another, baring in mind that she is already using a computer that is perfectly capable of operating as required.

I've been familiar with many IT types having an allergic aversion to anything with an "I" attached to it, mainly for reasons that are probably similar to male small p***s syndrome -if I use a Mac then people will assume that I'm not technically superior since it is only Windows that represents the ultimate of perception of computing technical superiority amongst IT types.

So I'm just curios...

I'm finding it interesting to see that the bulk of responses are coming from forum members who would be considered the more technically proficient Windows users on this forum.

For the record I wouldn't consider the requirement for technical proficiency to be an advantage when selling a smart phone to a regular customer (especially where Windows phones are concerned)
In the case of Android phones I would consider the lower price to be the initial draw card for a lot of people and the reason for Android phones to have sold in greater numbers than iPhones.

What's wrong with wanting to rid your house of computers that you perceive to be over priced and over ego'd ..?
Well quite a lot when your wife is perfectly happy using them. If your wife is happy using her computer then I would suggest let her keep using it because a happy wife means a happy household and a happy marriage ;)

Food for thought

1366064 2014-01-26 19:02:00 I'm curious as to your rational behind want to rid the house of the remaining fruit flavoured computing devices.

Is it because you just have a deep seated aversion to them or is it the fact that you consider that they don't allow you to express your own technological superiority over them because they at not Windows PCs which have always been considered the bastion of the "IT Tech domain"...?

Or is there some other reason?
It is principally because it only takes one in the barrel - - - (www.phrases.org.uk) and she has two of them :(
At least there is no W8 outbreak to contend with ;)

Thanks for the response R2 :)
I agree with no W8 in the house
Nothing wrong with having a few Macs in the house, if that is what SWMBO likes, keep the peace and let her have them :)

It's definitely the opposite in our house. :D

You can keep believing in that myth if you want...;) Id say that yours would be a self induced case of ignorance through personal avoidance with having anything to do with any iComputing device.

FTR - I'm sufficient enough to be a part time W7 user . I just use it when the job requires it.
