331632 2005-03-09 07:26:00 This is probably a little late, but here goes for the record.

If you only want to set the use flag for one package,
1'st, make shure that the /etc/portage directory is existing, if not, create it.

OK, so we want to set the use flag "gimpprint" for package "gimp",
execute the following code.

echo "gimp gimpprint" >> /etc/portage/package.use
And if we want to do the same, but for only one version of gimp, (i will use the latest version)

echo "=media-gfx/gimp-2.0.4 gimpprint " >> /etc/portage/package.use
You can also use >= and <= and others.

Yeah, just thought i would include this, as i think that the USE="gimpprint" emerge gimp , doesnt use the USE flags when you update world.

331633 2005-03-09 09:05:00 Thanks ILL (unfortunate abbreviation?),

I will use the code you posted and I've also copied it into a special folder along with some other "pearls" from you and Chill, for future reference.
