331765 2005-03-07 23:49:00 Greetings from the Great White North.

A while ago I found instructions to uncover a hidden Windows Messenger checkbox in Add/Remove Windows Components. I didn't write the instructions down. Does anyone know the procedure?

Thankyou.

331766 2005-03-08 00:03:00 If you want to remove it completely go here

www.kellys-korner-xp.com

Go to the last menu / Utilities for XP. Select disable or remove Messenger
from Windows and OE. Download this and run it.

Voila Windows Messenger will be removed completely.

331767 2005-03-08 00:07:00 Speedy's link is probably the easiest but you could have a look at the forum's FAQ (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) for other ways of removing it. FoxyMX (5)
331768 2005-03-08 00:19:00 If we are talking Windows Messanger Service and not MSN or some other messaging app, go the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Services & Applications in the list tree > Services. Scroll down until you get to Messanger, double click and choose "Disable" from the Startup Type drop down list, "OK" your way out. Murray P (44)
