| 331514 | 2005-03-07 07:16:00 | Last year I installed SuSe 9.1 desktop on my sister's PC (since a WinME re-install was required and the registration code had been mislaid). She has an Epson 480 printer which needed to be managed from Linux. I located mtink at xwtools.automatix.de The time has come to change the printer cartridge. Unfortunately: 1. The Epson 480 is software controlled only - there are no buttons on the printer. 2. My sister tells me that the option to change the cartrige in mtink is greyed out. I checked this on my PC (Fedora Core 3 with an Epson C61). The change cartridge option is also greyed out. I started the tool from root - same result. Does anyone know why this otherwise good looking tool seems to have this option unavailable? Thanks John |

I tried mtink a while ago while I was running Fedora Core 2 and never got it working either. I tried all sorts of tricks but ended up segfaulting the app :p. I did look extensively at the time, but couldn't find an alternative program that would do the same trick. :dogeye: Seeing the price of printers are cheap, I think I will donate my printer to my Parents and get myself one that has the maintenance tools on the printer itself. |
