332208 2005-03-09 07:13:00 Hey, I was just wondering if Xtra would allow us to run a small website from our own webserver?

We just got the 256k plan... 1GB cap :horrified but will be a little more probly if they allow DIY hosting....

It's not like there'll be any money made from it...

Guess not.

332210 2005-03-09 07:36:00 ghey... why arent you allowed?

Do you get 10mb free webspace from them automatically?

Will they pick it up, if I run a temporary (say 15minute - 3 hours) FTP server?

No but you might find that your 1GB is gone pretty fast. Also you will need to let the other person know what your IP address is or they will never find you.

332214 2005-03-09 09:44:00 No you dont - Download the Win32 DUC (Dynamic Update Client). Its free!!

No ideas about the webspace.

Your ISP really dont care, but if Xtra happen to do some random port-scans across their subnet on standard ports and find you're open - You either have to claim its your router or fess up to it :p

332215 2005-03-09 09:45:00 Shoulda mentioned - You can ask for exemption.

Email the Helpdesk and ask for the proper procedure.

Tell them you frequently want to access your files whilst on the road and see what they say.
