331882 2005-03-08 16:43:00 I'm looking for a sound card that if I plug (xm radio, cd player etc..) into the line in on the card it will play in at least surround sound if not 5.1. I don't care if it is no true 5.1. Will a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value do this?

thanks

331883 2005-03-08 20:27:00 Is there a soundcard installed in your system now??

If its pretty recent/modern, it'll support 5:1 . Most recent soundcards do .

If u use Windows, I dont think u can use 2 soundcards at the same time . You'll have to disable the onboard soundcard .

Whats the specs of your system??

331884 2005-03-08 21:18:00 yes I believe the audigy 2 will playback 6.1 sound or even 7.1 . As Speedy has pointed out most new-ish soundcards incl "on-board" processors will also do this to some degree , so you may already be able to playback multichannel surround sound . I have seen systems with two sound cards in them [ one M-audio for hard-disc recording/ playback , and a soundblaster for gaming ] however there can be problems if on board sound and a seperate pci soundcard are both enabled I believe .
