Most probably 40-50 an hr. Cant remember what the shop down the road charges. BUT for trojans it's $50!

I usually charge $30-40 an hr to install windows / whatever....for mates who want me to format / reinstall / fix up their systems.

hmm... expensive as, and how long would it take you to format/reinstall/ fix up their computers? Well maybe a total price of time & $ would be better.

Out of curiosity, what qualifaications do you have?

332118 2005-03-10 01:46:00 Impossible to say before you do coz you never know what complications you're going to run into. Updated drivers are a real hitch. And as for a cleanup , like trojans and what not you never know till you get stuck in and a re-install is not aotomatically the easiiest/cheaped option.

Took me five hours to clean up a mate's PC.

But then I do it for free and fun.

332119 2005-03-10 03:13:00 I dont have any qualifications Saikou . I just know what I'm doing .

I do this in my spare time . Sometimes, I'll do it for nothing . Depends on how long it takes . Some systems dont take as long as others .

If the OS is XP and the system is slow as hell, it can take 1-2 hrs + just to install XP!!

Then if they have net access, I'll get the updates (if they dont know what to do) .

And yer if anything like cds, or dvd's need to be installed, I'll do that too .

Who cares, as long as the person is competent.

332121 2005-03-10 03:51:00 Brig,
Don't get me wrong. I was merely recommending caution to this person who it seems to me is inexperienced in opening the bonnet. I still think that a reformat should be a last resort option rather than the first choice of remedies.
There are also a lot of people who have lost original disks (if they had them), or have downloaded programs from the net and don't have them on disk or don't have the activation codes.
When I did the upgrade I referred to I had all the disks and it still took me a weekend to reinstall all the programs and restore all my preferences. Some people might think that is a good way to spend a weekend, me, I've got better things to do.

I am charging between $29.90 to $39.90 an hr to install windows / whatever....for mates who want me to format / reinstall / fix up their systems. Cheaper by 10 cents compare to Speedy Gonzalez. Anybody need my help, contact me. Remember, cheaper by 10 cents compare to Speedy. Just memorise the keyword, cheaper than Speedy, the speedier my pc goes. :D

I am with you on that Greg.
Mind you if my mate charged me as Speedy charges his mates, they would become an ex friend,a bit like the parrot. ;)
