| 331885 | 2005-03-08 10:26:00 | Virus. unfixable and cannot move or heal? there is four of the blighters...... sigh.... cant get the pop up box for virus to go away as i havent fixed it and keeps asking if i want to save it? got to find the appropriate fag i spose. anybody else had probs with these things? beetle:( |

That's an oldy but a goody, unless it's been altered/updated it should be cleanable. IIRC it's associated with ad/spyware installed by websites (java scripts), but I'm not positive about that. | Murray P (44) | ||
| 331887 | 2005-03-08 11:06:00 | Do you have the latest version of Java, ver 5 I think. I had this "Virus" and spent ages trying to get rid of it. I think it is a false positive from Ad-Aware. Eventually I installed the latest Java and the problem ceased. You can find the offending files in the Java program and zip them and put them in a file in My Docs as I did then Ad-Aware just found them there instead of in the Java file, it seemed to make no difference to how Java ran even though it seemed to me that they were actually a valid part of the installation, .jar files as I remember. | zqwerty (97) | ||
| 331888 | 2005-03-08 19:36:00 | Firstly use CCleaner to clean out ALL your temp folders and files then do the following: 1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel 2. In the Control Panel, open the "Java Plug-in Control Panel" 3. Select the Cache Tab 4. Click the Clear button inside the Cache Tab, which will clear your JRE cache directory. Run Adaware and AVG to see if they come up clean. If they do go to Sun and download and install the latest version of Java: www.java.com It's a big download so do it when you have plenty of time. |

If it doesn't say 5 . 00 . 3810 in DOS, it hasn't been updated (MS Java) . And u are prone to Byteverify . This installs Java . If u installed SP1a this doesnt have Java as part of the install . You can install Sun Java as a replacement . |

| 331892 | 2005-03-08 21:20:00 | I know Sun Java has been installed . It doesnt mean it doesnt have MS Java though . You can have BOTH . Thats why people get this Byteverify trojan . Unless u have the version of MS Java I posted, you'll keep on getting this Byteverify trojan . |

| 331894 | 2005-03-08 21:52:00 | even with sunjava you still "get" the Byteverify. the antivirus will pick the file up in the java cache. the file dosn't actually infect your pc as such (provided your useing the correct ver of sunjava). all you need to do is empty the cache and temp internet file cache. there is a MSjava removal tool around somewhere, MS actually made one! |
