332887 2005-03-10 20:29:00 Hi People
just back from Greymouth, missed tornado by 20 minutes, but far more dangerous than wind. I booted my laptop up and the screen just reads "Disk i/o error reinsert disk etc" and then nothing happens??
can you help please??

332888 2005-03-10 20:39:00 1) Stuffed boot partition-
1 Boot to your operating system’s Startup diskette.
2 At the A: prompt, type “FDISK /MBR,” then press ENTER.
3 This should rebuild your partition table if possible. After doing this, eject the diskette and reboot. You should be able to reboot into Windows and access your data.

2) Loose HDD cable?

3)Stuffed hard disk.

332889 2005-03-10 20:46:00 Is a floppy in the disk drive? if it has a disk drive?? If so, take it out.

Or has the BIOS changed the bootdisk to floppy?? If so, change it to the hdd.

Doubt if its the hdd cable, since its a laptop.
