332508 2005-05-01 11:21:00 Everest HE should be able to tell you who the drive was made by. vapo (5203)
332509 2005-05-02 00:27:00 vapo: yeah, I think that was suggested earlier, it didn't help too much though as it was identified as 'GENERIC DVD RW 8XMax' in Everest the same as other programs. I have found out what make and model it is however.

I tried flashing the drive but it doesnt seem to work :(. It always returns this error message (sal.neoburn.net). Help?

332510 2005-05-02 01:08:00 Have you got a pic of the burner?? Does it look like this?

www.optorite.com

As this is also according to Google called GENERIC DVD RW 8XMax

Also, u could try the free version of DVDinfo Pro, but it runs out. See if this shows anything different

332512 2005-05-02 04:19:00 Do you have anymore info about the error like a number.
By the sound of it so far you should try a different brand of discs

332515 2005-05-03 04:32:00 Ok, tried an imation DVD+R 4X today, no difference ("Waiting for drive to become ready...Unable to initialize"). Might just have to shell out for a new one :/ sal (67)

332517 2005-05-16 19:18:00 Here is a pic of the front of the DVD Writer (sal.neoburn.net). I also checked out DVDinfo > dvdinfo.gif (sal.neoburn.net).

I did a search for the firmware version shown on dvdinfo.gif. The firmware doesn't belong to a MSI drive. Info can be found here (www.google.co.nz) .
