333236 2005-03-11 22:13:00 I have recently changed my email address. Generally I am having no trouble informing various organisations to which I belong - however, I can find no way of letting Symantic know the new address. I think they should know, as I want to be sure of getting my subscription notice when it falls due. (See, I even want to pay them :D)

Should I be concerned about this - or can they track me down some other way??? Can someone reassure me on this point please?

333238 2005-03-11 23:20:00 Thanks for your response. The only thing I found was under 'Customer Service - subscription problem'. I outlined my request (change of email address), using my order number to identify myself, sent it, and received an automated reply saying:

"Thank You For Submitting Your Request.

"We Have Received Your Message
And will respond to it in the order it was received.
The response will be sent to [my old address]" :angry

It beats me why they can't have as one of their automated options "notify change of email address".

Unless I missed something. Surely I can't be the only person who's ever changed their address and wants to tell them about it?

333239 2005-03-11 23:55:00 In my experience Norton's were hopeless to communicate with. I gave up trying to send them my sub and switched to a freebie.

Never looked back. Never paid anymore.

333240 2005-03-12 05:30:00 According to Symantec, to change your registration details you only need to open up your Norton program and go to Help > About Norton. Then click on "Change" instead of "Register" and modify your details. Jen (38)
333241 2005-03-12 12:47:00 You could also phone them. Rob99 (151)
333242 2005-03-12 21:32:00 I just can't believe this is so difficult!

Thanks for your advice, Jen - if only it were that simple . I can go to Help>About Norton, but there is NO "Change" button - it does not exist . I can find my serial number, my A/C ID number, my Paid Subscription number, a statement that says my copy is lisenced under my name - but nothing about changing anything .

The only likely-looking thing on the website leads to a dud page - an error message only . Everything else seems geared to automated responses to questions about orders from Symantic, or to leading you to technical solutions from 'The Knowledge Base' . I tried following up just to see what happens, finally got to Norton AntiVirus 2003 - my copy - to find this helpful message:

"The versions of Norton AntiVirus listed on this page have been discontinued . Therefore, telephone and online support are no longer available . "

In the User's Guide a New Zealand symantic website is listed which appears to no longer exist . A phone number is given which invites me to call back during Australian office hours . Maybe I'll try again, if I haven't lost patience altogether .

I'm on the point of giving up . . . anyone would think they didn't want my custom!

PS: after much searching the website, I at last stumbled across this option:
“Privacy Options and Personal Information
Update your email address, mailing address, or privacy options .
Imagine my frustration when, after following this link, I found nothing of the kind – after entering my name and address, I then found the only other thing to do before pressing ‘submit’ was to choose which of a number of advertising materials I would ‘like’ Symantic to send to me . This is a mailing list for information only, not for updating subscription information .

The page which I found that information on was pretty generic and didn't mention what versions it did not cover. I am guessing perhaps the 2004+ versions have this option now?

With antivirus scanners, it pays to upgrade to the newer version after a couple of years rather than just renewing your current subscription for the 2003 version. This is because the scanning technology/functionality included in the newer versions is much more sophisticated and will do a better job of protecting you.

Goodluck with updating your details via the phone. :)

333244 2005-03-12 23:40:00 Symantec,
Not sure if this is too simple an answer to the original post.

When you log on to Norton to download your regular live updates, if your subscription is due within the following 3 or 4 weeks it will automatically warn you that your sub expires on date X

333245 2005-03-12 23:59:00 I think you should punish them by moving to AVG,which is superb. Cicero (40)
