332936 2005-03-11 03:07:00 Hi all

In my XP Home Device Manager, under Network Adapters, I have an entry listing the above miniport device, along with a yellow exclamation mark. Can anyone tell me what the function of this device/driver is? What would use this on my system? I'm wondering if it's safe to uninstall.

Many thanks ~ John

332937 2005-03-11 03:12:00 well whatever it is they yellow exclamation (sure it is not a question mark) mark would indicate that it is not working properly theother1 (3573)

332939 2005-03-11 03:20:00 Have u got USB 2 onboard?? If u have is SP1 or 2 installed??

And did u "build / make" this system yourself??

If u did, install the inf file from the cd. Or delete that entry and reboot. It might fix it.

Are u using something like a usb device as a networking device somewhere??

332940 2005-03-11 03:26:00 Thanks Speedy Gonzales. We're using a Dick Smith ADSL Router, connected to a home-built XP Home/SP2 PC, via a USB port. Not sure if it's USB1 or 2. I rang Dick Smith - they said it was nothing to do with their router. braindead (1685)
332941 2005-03-11 03:34:00 OK try deleting that entry then with the exclamation mark. Sometimes when u install SP1 or 2, u have to delete the USB entries (if u have USB 2). And USB will go again.

If u go into device manager, under USB and see something like enhanced
host controller, this is USB 2. What brand/model is the mobo??

If you have anything else thats USB do they work?? Is this router working if its in a USB port??

BUT yup, after u installed XP, if u didnt install the ide inf files after, install them now. (from the mobo CD). An option to install these files, should appear in the setup menu somewhere.

That might fix it too. (if these files weren't install install this first/now,delete that USB entry), and reboot.

332942 2005-03-11 03:43:00 Gigabyte GA-7VM400M mobo. Yep it has enhanced USB Host Controller. Yep, the router works great. I'll check out the mobo drivers.

Thanks m8
