333923 2005-03-14 08:05:00 I think i've been attacked by some trojan horse.or worm

All was well when suddenly my pc's gone to a halt(well almost) everything's running @ turtle pace as my CPU has gone to 100% usage.

In the Task Manager, there is 4 processes of svchost.exe the mem usage ranges from 468-11508k..

Is this Normal?

thanks in advance

333925 2005-03-14 08:11:00 Do you have current Antivirus software? What does it report? I assume you are using Windows XP? svchost.exe is a normal windows process and you can have several instances of it running. There is a worm which has a similar name called scvhost or scvhost.exe.

What happens when you reboot the machine?

333931 2005-03-15 00:07:00 No reply re virus scans or spyware, so in case that's a "no", download & run Stinger from here: vil.nai.com

A Sasser worm removal tool from here: securityresponse.symantec.com (scroll down to "Obtaining and running the tool")

A Blaster worm removal tool from here: securityresponse.symantec.com (scroll down to "Obtaining and running the tool")

Spybot from here: safer-networking.org

And a free online virus scan from here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com (if you can get on at the moment)

Plus a not-free virus scanner from here: http://www.dse.co.nz

333932 2005-03-15 07:20:00 There doesn't seem to be any worms/trojans (assumption)

Could there be some program that it's trying to run over and over again and that's eating up my resources?
