333753 2005-03-14 00:48:00 Windows 98 upgrade do you really need win95

If you have win98 upgrade version, do you really need win95 or can you go without win95. Thanks.

333754 2005-03-14 00:51:00 usually you need a qualifing product so don't go throwing out the old 95 disk.

why do you ask?

333755 2005-03-14 00:52:00 Dont think so. You dont have to install all of 95.

Just the first disk I think to prove u have a previous version. Then 98 will install.

333758 2005-03-14 03:29:00 Well, since the method is in the public domain and is described in the IDG book, Windows 98 Secrets by Brian Livingston and David Straub, there can't be any harm in repeating it :)

It is assumed you have a win3x or Win95 license.

Make a text file with an editor and just type in the one line Rem. Save the file with the name Ntldr with no file extension in the C: root directory.
