333933 2005-03-15 07:38:00 and is there anyway i can get rid of them? WestMclaren2004 (7303)
333934 2005-03-15 07:53:00 Could there be some program that it's trying to run over and over again and that's eating up my resources?

Could be. You know how to bring up the Task Manager, what is the process that is showing 100% CPU? Rob99 has drawn you a picture of where to look.

333935 2005-03-15 21:47:00 something called regfilter.exe is running @ 99 cpu.............. WestMclaren2004 (7303)
333936 2005-03-15 21:53:00 Do you have current Antivirus software? What does it report? I assume you are using Windows XP? svchost.exe is a normal windows process and you can have several instances of it running. There is a worm which has a similar name called scvhost or scvhost.exe.

By stopping a lot of unneccessary services running you can rid several instances of svchost.exe from the process chain.

333937 2005-03-15 21:59:00 Are you using Nortons antivirus or Internet security? If so try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Sb0h (3744)

333941 2005-03-16 01:21:00 Norton Internet Security is the culprit. Hmm. I am certain that I am much more likely to get robbed and my computer stolen than be hacked (even with a static IP) on the net. Even if someone picked me out of millions of users, what would they do? Look at my email? Ruin Winodws? Good grief 1hour of down time to reghost.

WinXP SP2 firewall and a virus scanner plus spyware(whats that? us Firefox users say) is all I will need. After all, in 7 years of computing I have never heard of any home user getting hacked.

Mild mass hysteria anyone?
