334384 2005-03-15 07:28:00 Hi All :D

Has anyone purchased a computer package from NFC Technology (Auckland) recently? If so, are you happy to tell me how the overall sale went and what of any after sales service.

Thanks :D

334385 2005-03-15 07:31:00 Hiya Princess,

It maybe an idea if you posted the contents of what you PM'd to me,while I am happy to give advise it can't hurt to have other peoples views/opinions on a system configuration.

334386 2005-03-15 07:43:00 Yes, tell us what horrible things they did to you. pctek (84)
334387 2005-03-15 07:46:00 Are you talking about the Newmarket branch on Rumuera Rd? I haven't been there. However, am buying another PC from Orange Computers (which has slowly intergrated into another branch of NFC). They offically advertise together, etc. under the name NFC -so won't be long before Orange changes to NFC altogether. However, my experience with them is that you should always negoiate the price. They are always prepared to go the extra mile -chucking extra things in or giving discounts, etc. Warranty wise I think they're pretty good -knowing how busy it gets. techie (7177)
334388 2005-03-15 07:48:00 Horrible things?

I was sent a pm outlining 3 system configurations, for the record the second was the better comp, but depending on use the 3rd may represent better value.

334390 2005-03-15 08:15:00 You need to select a computer for your needs. What do you intend using this computer for?

gaming
video editing
graphical work
office applications
email and surfing
or just general all rounder

Once you know what your needs are, a appropriate system can be suggested. You might otherwise end up with overkill (or underdone) unless this is stated. :)

334391 2005-03-15 08:30:00 Hmmm....I would be inclined to go for system 3,and get them to whack a 6600gt video card in it, Depending on the motherboard and whatnot.

The price is right anyway.

Thanks Jen & Metla for your valued comments

In response to your question Jen, I want a computer for almost 'all of the above' except graphical work . Ideally I want a computer that I won't have to upgrade for some time .

At the moment I am working on a borrowed Celeron - something I swear I will never buy :badpc:
I want something that responds quickly and operates pretty much 'straight off the mark' . For a while there I was set on Apple, due to some fairly strong convincing from colleagues - I am now otherwise swaying back to PC, because of the wider range of software & compatability etc . . . and various other reasons .

I think I will make some follow up inquiries to options 2 & 3, unless something better surfaces :p

Thanks again

334393 2005-03-15 23:03:00 I bought a system off them about 18 months ago. Service was good, and the computer hasn't missed a beat since.
However my brother also bought an Asus laptop from them which developed a problem with losing the date intermittently on bootup. Their attitude was indifferent, in the end all he got out of them was another CMOS battery to fit himself. He hasn't been able to figure out how to open the case to fit it.
