334344 2005-03-15 07:08:00 Hey guys,

I have an important question to ask. I have a Windows XP Prof and i have put a password on my logon.. i have only one logon, the problem is i have forgot what password i put on that one logon.. so i tryed to bypass it by going into safe mode and using the Aminastrator account. BUT what i also forgot was that i put a pass on the Amin~ acc and i forgot what it was.. so.. if any people know any other way to get passed it.. please help :(

Laterz.

334346 2005-03-15 07:28:00 Ummm... don't mean to cause offence if you are genuine, but what guarantee do we have that it actually is your computer that you have locked yourself out of? FoxyMX (5)
334347 2005-03-15 07:28:00 Have a look at Sakefoot's Install/Repair (snakefoot.fateback.com), scroll down to item 17, when done look at item 16. Murray P (44)

Crazy steps there. Just use the Offline NT password disk (home.eunet.no). Follow the prompts (admittedly after getting your PC to boot off a CD).

Only crazy people don't set a BIOS password and also only allow booting from the hard drive. If the bios password is lost .. then I'd really suspect the machine belongs to someone else

I believe that ERD Commander costs $$$.

If you follow the first link in article 17, you'll find the NT Offline tool listed as the first link in the password list. All bases covered ;) SF is dealing with all version in one go which makes it look a bit messy at first.

L878, I've never used the tools and definitely not in XP which I don't use. Maybe someone else could break it down to laymans terms. Unfortunately I don't think there is any easy way to do it if you don't have at least intermediate experience. This reset tool (http://www.xppasswordrecovery.co.uk/) is probably the easiest to follow (it's the second file listed in the first link). If you are at all unsure, it would be best to get a professional tech to do it for you.

334352 2005-03-15 11:20:00 zqwerty, parallel installation of the OS can lead to other issues and the steps you have to take are much the same as given when using other methods such as a password recovery discs. The instructions further down for the methods already discussed or linked to, look promising though. Murray P (44)
