334253 2005-03-15 04:04:00 Hi,

I don't know if this is legal but I am interested in getting a job in computers. I have studied part time with Spherion. But I had to quit because it was too difficult to manage traveling from Hamilton to Auckland to study as well as working fulltime. I am interested in doing A+ cert but don't know who the best provider is. Any ideas?

Buy a study guide, then book your test.

Its pretty simple and while any study is good, A+ cert doesn't make someone capable of fixing or working on comps.

In fact, I happened to be walking through a training centre one day and they were teaching the class from Mike Meyers A+ Passport book, none of them were near a comp.

Not what i would call $2000 worth.

334257 2005-03-15 05:24:00 NCEA doesnt even have pc tech related subjects, ive checked this out, the only thing close to it is Computing, which is a piece of piss and so basic, the most "advance" thing you would do is learning what a firewall is

im going to do a course at the local polytech in conjunction with my school this year sometime

334258 2005-03-15 06:32:00 A+ etc.

Forget being a tech - the pay is better at McDonalds.
Networking or programming.

Also all you future IT people, take a look on Seek or similar and look at what positions are being advertised. No point in going with a path that is not in demand.

334259 2005-03-15 07:09:00 yeah there are too many of those small computer shops nowadays, and you can see how many dont make it in the long run, soo many of them shut down within a year Prescott (11)
