334567 2005-03-17 09:57:00 I can't say I have experienced any of your problems, theother1. Perhaps I haven't tried hard enough!! linw (53)
334568 2005-03-17 10:10:00 After trying Firefox for a few days, I've relegated it to the test machine for my webpage development (as suggested in an earlier post in this thread) and returned to using Maxthon for browsing. The main reason is that with Maxthon I can have any number of webpages open at the same time and simply switch from one to the other using the tabs at the top of the page. TideMan (4279)
334569 2005-03-17 10:47:00 UUUUmmmmmmmmm, FireFox has tabbed browsing as well, hold Ctrl whilst you left click a link. Many options to be accessed to use this feature as well. zqwerty (97)
334570 2005-03-17 11:04:00 Another thing it does is not to return to my place on a web page after I have opened and then closed a link so I then have to scroll down to find my place again.

That's funny, my Firefox always returns to the point that I was on in a page if I return using the back button.

You should open links in a new tab, Ctrl + left click, and then close the new tab after reading, or whatever, then the original page will always be in the correct place, ....................... as a work-around.

334573 2005-03-17 12:08:00 Extract from above:

On Richard Nixon:

MEMO FROM THE NATIONAL AFFAIRS DESK

DATE: MAY 1, 1994

FROM: DR . HUNTER S . THOMPSON

SUBJECT: THE DEATH OF RICHARD NIXON:

NOTES ON THE PASSING OF AN AMERICAN MONSTER . . . . HE WAS A LIAR ND A QUITTER, AND HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN BURIED AT SEA . . . . BUT HE WAS, AFTER ALL, THE PRESIDENT .

"And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is becoming the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit and a cage of
every unclean and hateful bird . "--REVELATION 18:2

Richard Nixon is gone now and I am poorer for it . He was the real thing--a political monster straight out of Grendel and a very dangerous enemy . He could shake your hand and stab you in the back at the same time . He lied to his friends and betrayed the trust of his family . Not even Gerald Ford, the unhappy ex-president who pardoned Nixon and kept him out of prison, was immune to the evil fallout . Ford, who believes strongly in Heaven and Hell, has told more than one of his celebrity golf partners that I know Iwill go to hell, because I pardoned Richard Nixon . "

I have had my own bloody relationship with Nixon for many years, but I am not worried about it landing me in hell with him . I have already been there with that bastard, andI am a better person for it . Nixon had the unique ability to make his enemies seem honorable, and we developed a keen sense of fraternity . Some of my best friends have hatedNixon all their lives . My mother hates Nixon, my son hates Nixon, I hate Nixon, and this hatred has brought us together .

Nixon laughed when I told him this . "Don't worry," he said . "I, too, am a family man, and we feel the same way about you . "

What a phenomenon HST was .

334575 2005-03-18 05:56:00 The Firefox versus I.E debate...

My browser of choice: Firefox (1.0.1)
Have Used: I.E, Opera

I have been using Firefox for about 3 or 4 months now. Love it, wouldn't go back to I.E. if you paid me (well depends what you paid me I guess). During this time I also tried Opera, in many ways it was superior, but it wouldn't go into my MSN communities (didn't matter how it identified itself). For that reason mainly I stopped using it.
Firefox might not be as fast, but it does everything I want it to :)

334576 2005-03-18 06:41:00 I had some problems initially with images loading, but PF1 gave me the answer to that :)

An oddity that happens with Bookmarks, is that it sometimes takes off and scrolls 'uncontrollably', until I yell at it to stop!
