334605 2005-03-16 01:41:00 I have recently bought a new computer and have found that when the computer is closed down (running Windows XP) it only takes the telephone in the house to ring (I don't have a phone attached to my modem) and my computer restarts!!!!!
Any ideas would be appreciated as it means that after closing down I have to pull the computer power plug from the wall or pull the modem connection from the wall phone jack.

334606 2005-03-16 01:50:00 Head into the bios and disable wake on ring, wake on pci card,or anthing similar that has to do with "wake".

Your motherboard manual should detail how to get into the bios.

334608 2005-03-16 07:43:00 :o Many thanks to the two replies. I have now cured the problem with both the Bios and Modem being the cause. mjjames (7607)
