335122 2005-03-17 09:32:00 OK, I know it has only been a couple of hours since the last Wireless problem, but I think this is not related to the actual wireless hardware.

I recently bought a D-Link DI-624+ Router. Installed nicely and easily. Enabled WEP, but still broadcasting SSID until I get the rest of the network up and running.

Installed a D-Link GWL-520+ into a recently upgraded PC. Installed cleanly and works fine.

Installed another D-Link GWL-520+ into an older PC. It can (sometimes) see the router, but cannot connect to it. At times it can't see the router. When it can, the signal strength is strong (line of sight at 10m I should hope so!). After several hours, I tried this card in another PC with complete success. Guess it's not the card.

The older PC is a Pentium 1GHz, 384MB RAM, MSI K7T Turbo 2 M/B. I have tried disabling various peripherals but still have the same problems. I have upgraded to WinXP SP2, but to no avail. The Wizard stops when "detecting the type of wireless network" - doesn't even ask for the WEP key like the other two PCs did.

Any hints would be appreciated. The only thing I haven't tried which has been suggested was to flash the BIOS with an upgrade.

Cheers

335123 2005-03-17 10:34:00 Get NetStumbler (http://www.netstumbler.com/), this will help you point your antenna. If your antenna is just poking out the back of your computer you may have to rotate the computer, or get an antenna that you can sit ontop of your box.

Can you try another computer in the same position as the old one.
